South Korea is currently stationed in Guadalajara, Mexico for the 2026 World Cup, and the Mexicans around them have been very welcoming to say the least. Mexico’s adoration for Korean soccer dates back to the 2018 Russia World Cup, where Korea beat Germany in the group stage, indirectly allowing Mexico to move onto the round of 16. From that even came a Mexican chant that goes “Hermano Coreano ya eres Mexicano!” which welcomes Koreans as brothers and even part of the Mexican community.”Now, in 2026, that same appreciation has been ignited again as Mexico hosts Korea.
Since Koreans arrived in Mexico last month to support their team, the locals have made sure to create some playful memories with their visitors. Many videos are going viral showing Mexicans throwing Koreans into the air, having each other say things in the other’s native language, and even dancing in the streets to musical staples from each country.
Enjoy these videos of the two country’s fans having fun, including one of them dancing to PSY’S “Gangnam Style” and another of them celebrating together in the streets!
Unfortunately for the Mexican and Korean fans, their friendship will soon be put to the test as Mexico plays against Korea this Thursday in a group stage face off. For Mexicans and Koreans alike, the match is sure to be an intense 90 minutes, and Austin is set to host many watch parties for the occasion.
